The present invention relates to a process for providing an aluminium article with a copper coating, comprising a first step of anodizing said aluminium article to produce an anodic oxide layer on the surface thereof; and a second step of colouring the anodized aluminium surface in an electrolytic bath containing a copper salt by subjecting the aluminium surface to an asymmetrical voltage controlled alternating block current having a positive phase and a negative phase, such that a metallic copper coloured coating is formed. The invention also relates to aluminium articles, provided with a copper coating, obtainable by said process.

La présente invention concerne un procédé pour doter un article en aluminium d'un revêtement de cuivre, le procédé comprenant une première étape d'anodisation dudit article en aluminium pour produire une couche d'oxyde anodique sur la surface de celui-ci; et une seconde étape de coloration de la surface en aluminium anodisée dans un bain électrolytique contenant un sel de cuivre en soumettant la surface en aluminium à un courant de bloc alternatif commandé par une tension asymétrique, ayant une phase positive et une phase négative, de telle sorte qu'un revêtement coloré de cuivre métallique est formé. L'invention concerne également des articles en aluminium, dotés d'un revêtement de cuivre, aptes à être obtenus par ledit procédé.
