Real time or near real time assessment of the quality of securities transactions is accomplished by intercepting order and execution communications between trader and broker, comparing the execution data with contemporaneous market data relative to the transaction or transactions involved, and informing the trader of that comparison. This is accomplished without interrupting or impeding the trader-broker communications, except that a broker-trader communication may, if desired, be interrupted and relevant data aggregated until the aggregate reaches a desired value. It is preferred that the comparison be between the volume-weighted average price of the securities transaction and the volume-weighted average price of the market data for that security, over the life of the order. A particular effective way to communicate the quality evaluation to the trader is disclosed.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant d'évaluer en temps réel ou quasi réel la qualité de transactions de titres de placement, et qui comporte les étapes consistant à: intercepter des communications relatives à des ordres et à des exécutions et établies entre un opérateur et un courtier, comparer les données d'exécution avec des données actuelles du marché concernant la ou les transactions impliquées, et informer l'opérateur du résultat de la comparaison. Ce procédé est mis en oeuvre sans interrompre ou empêcher les communications opérateur-courtier, à une exception près: une communication opérateur-courtier peut être interrompue si nécessaire, et les données pertinentes totalisées jusqu'à ce que le total atteigne une valeur voulue. De préférence, la comparaison est établie entre le prix moyen pondéré en volume de la transaction des titres et le prix moyen pondéré en volume des données de marché pour le titre en question, sur la durée de l'ordre. L'invention concerne aussi un moyen efficace particulier pour communiquer l'évaluation de qualité à l'opérateur.
