Abstract of the Disclosure The invention is a process for purifying crude resorcinol derived from an acid cleavage product of m-diisopropyl benzene dihydroperoxide and containing impurities having higher boiling points than resorcinol. The process involves recrystallizing the crude resorcinol from a mixed solvent consisting of (a) about 0.5 to about 5 times the weight of resorcinol of an aromatic hydrocarbon which contains 6 to 10 carbon atoms and is liquid at 20°C, and (b) about 0.1 to about 0.7 times the weight of resorcinol of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of alkyl phenols having a C1-C4 alkyl group and acyl phenols derived from C2-C4 aliphatic mono- carboxylic acids.
