The invention is concerned with a process for the purification of an aqueous solution of a tertiary amine-oxide containing impurities partially present in a dissolved and partially in a non-dissolved, colloidal state, and is characterized by a combination of the steps of (A) removing from the aqueous solution substantially all of said impurities present in a non-dissolved, colloidal state and (B) contacting said aqueous solution obtained in step (A) with an ion exchanger.

Le procédé décrit sert à purifier une solution aqueuse d'un oxyde d'amine tertiaire qui contient des impuretés en partie dissoutes et en partie non dissoutes présentes sous une forme colloïdale. Le procédé se caractérise par une combinaison des étapes suivantes: (A) on enlève de la solution aqueuse pratiquement toutes les impuretés non dissoutes présentes sous une forme colloïdale; et (B) on met en contact la solution aqueuse obtenue par l'étape (A) en contact avec un échangeur d'ions.
