The present invention relates to a purification process using distillation of chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons from the chlorination of aromatic hydrocarbons in the presence of FeCl3. The distillation is carried out in the presence of the said FeCl3 after degassing of the reaction crude. The purified chlorinated aromatic compounds thus obtained can be used in the production of agrochemicals, dyes and nonflammable dielectric fluids.
