A process for purifying silica sand and other materials for the elimination of iron, aluminosilicates and other impurities therefrom, comprising: abrasive-attrictioning sand particles to remove a film of iron covering said sand particles, aluminosilicates and other impurities; and separating said impurities from said sand particles by magnetic separation, flotation or other methods, thus simplifying the conventional processes by minimizing its attrition steps and suppressing or reducing the conditions of the chemical treatment with acids or alkalis which was necessary in said conventional processes.
Méthode de purification de la silice et d'autres matières pour éliminer le fer, les aluminosilicates et d'autres impuretés. Des particules de sable d'abrasion-attrition permettent d'éliminer une pellicule de fer recouvrant ces particules, les aluminosilicates et d'autres impuretés; ces impuretés sont séparées des particules de sable par séparation magnétique, flottation ou d'autres méthodes, ce qui simplifie les procédés classiques en réduisant au minimum les étapes d'attrition, et en supprimant ou en réduisant le traitement chimique à l'aide d'acides ou d'alcalis, qui était nécessaire dans les procédés classiques.
