ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a process for recovering at least one of the metallic elements, uranium, molybdenum, vanadium, copper, selenium and germanium, contained in the kerogen of kerogeniferous ores. The process comprises the following steps:- a) grinding the ore down to the mesh-size of kerogen; b) separating kerogen from the carrier ore, by floatation; c) heating the separated kerogen; d) treating the residuum of step c) to recover the metallic element(s) contained therein. The invention is particularly applicable to the recovery of uranium and other metals contained in sedimentary ores.
