Process for recovering polyester polymer as a microporous solid from a mixed polymer recycle stream which comprises:- a) contacting the mixed polymer recycle stream at elevated temperature with a selective solvent in which polyester polymers are soluble and other polymers present in the recycle stream are substantially insoluble to form a solution of polyester polymer in the selective solvent; b) if the concentration of polyester in said solution is below 35 wt.%, increasing it to above that value; c) cooling the selective solvent solution to form a solid material having an interconnected phase of solid polymer domains rich in polyester polymer and a phase of solvent domains rich in selective solvent; d) extracting the selective solvent from the solid material to form a microporous solid. There is also provided an article comprising a molded, extruded, or cut, solid polyethylene terephthalate polymer having an open microporous structure, the average pore diameter being within the range of 0.5 to 50 microns.
Procédé pour la récupération d'un polymère de polyester sous forme de solide microporeux d'un écoulement de recyclage de mélanges de polymères qui comporte :- a) une étape de mélange à température élevée de l'écoulement de recyclage de mélanges de polymères avec un solvant sélectif dans lequel les polymères de polyester sont solubles et les autres polymères présent dans l'écoulement de recyclage sont à peu près insoluble de façon à obtenir une solution de polymère de polyester; b) si la concentration du polyester dans cette solution est inférieure à 35 % en poids, une étape d'augmentation à une valeur supérieure à cette dernière; c) une étape de refroidissement de la solution de solvant sélectif de façon à forme une matière solide ayant une phase interconnectée de zones de polymère solide riche ne polymère de polyester et une phase de zone de solvant riches en solvant sélectif; d) l'extraction du solvant sélectif de la matière solide de façon à former un solide microporeux. On revendique également un article comportant un polymère solide de téréphthalate de polyéthylène moulé, extrudé ou coupé, à structure microporeuse ouverte, dont le diamètre moyen des pores est compris entre 0,5 et 50 microns.
