ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for recovering boric acid from a sodium borate-mineral acid reaction product mixture by extracting the mixture with a solution of a monohydric alcohol having 6 to 12 carbon atoms in a diluent at a temperature of about 50° to 80°C and recovery of the boric acid from an organic phase, for example, by crystallization; the process enables an efficient recovery of boric acid of acceptable quality with a minimum of washings, particularly at an acid pH at which the reaction product mixture is formed.
