This invention relates to a process for recovering copper from a high acid mixed metal solution, said high acid mixed metal solution having a pH of about 0.5 or less and comprising copper ions, ions of at least one additional metal and sulfuric acid, said process comprising: (A) separating said high acid mixed metal solution (10) into a first fraction (14) comprising copper ions and ions of said at least one additional metal, and a second fraction (16) comprising said sulfuric acid; (B) separating said copper ions from said first fraction; (C) forming an electrolyte solution comprising said copper ions from step (B); and (D) electrodepositing copper from said electrolyte solution. The copper that is electrodeposited may be in the form of copper powder or copper foil.
L'invention concerne un procédé de récupération du cuivre dans une solution de métaux mélangés très acide, présentant un pH d'environ 0,5 ou moins et comprenant des ions cuivres, des ions d'au moins un autre métal et de l'acide sulfurique. Ledit procédé consiste à : (A) séparer ladite solution de métaux mélangés très acide (10) en une première fraction (14) contenant des ions cuivres et des ions d'au moins un autre métal, et en une deuxième fraction (16) comprenant ledit acide sulfurique ; (B) séparer lesdits ions cuivres de ladite première fraction ; (C) former une solution électrolytique comprenant les ions cuivres de l'étape (B) ; et (D) à assurer le dépôt électrolytique du cuivre de la solution électrolytique. Le cuivre déposé peut se présenter sous forme de poudre de cuivre ou de feuille de cuivre.
