ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for recovering noble metals from dilute aqueous or non-aqueous solutions containing salts of base petals and/or difficulty soluble inorganic or organic compounds is described. This process is generally applicable, easy to carry out and produces high yields of noble metals. Elemental tellurium or a reducible tellurium compound is added to -the noble metal solution at temperatures of 100 to 250°C and the precipitate formed is further processed in a conventional manner.
