"PROCESS FOR RECOVERING RAW NATURAL GAS LIQUIDS" ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for treating a moisture- containing natural gas stream to recover an improved yield of liquified heavy hydrocarbons (i.e. natural gas liquids or NGL"s). More particularly, the wet gas stream is contacted in extractive relationship with lean glycol to reduce the water content of the natural gas to less than about 1 ppm. Following extraction, the water-rich glycol is regenerated by the combination of reboiling, azeotropic distillation, and gravity separation, to produce a lean glycol which is sufficiently dry so as to dehydrate the natural gas to the extent stated. The dried natural gas is chilled with a liquid refrigerant at a temperature in the order of -40° F to -55° F. The refrigerant is cooled to the desired temperature by compound mechanical compression refrigeration. By combining dehydration and refrigeration processes which are adapted to permit of hydrocarbons condensation at temperatures in the order of -40° F to -60° F, significantly increased yields of NHGL's are obtained when compared with the results of conventional operations.
