ABSTRACT In a method of solvent recovery from a solvent-containing hydrocarbon phase by flash vaporization in two successive separation stages at different pressures, an improvement may be obtained by introducing an intermediate pressure separation stage having an operating pressure in the range of 1 to 4 bar, that is between the pressure range of the low pressure stage (0.1 to 1 bar) and the pressure range of the high pressure stage (4 to 10 bar). The energy required to effect solvent recovery is reduced by conducting the vaporization in three pressure stages rather than two.
