ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Organic substances are removed from a highly ionic medium by contacting the medium with a substantially hydro- phobic polystyrene type resin. This process is especially useful in the hydrometallurgical processes for the removal of organic substances from highly ionic raffinates prior to the recycle of the raffinate into the hydrometallurgical process.
