In a process for chlorinating titanium containing material in a fluidized bed reactor which evolves gaseous material including CO, COS, and TiCl4, the improvement comprising introducing oxygen containing gas at a location or locations which are downstream of the surface of the bed, as measured in its static condition, to convert at least some CO to CO2 and some COS to CO2 and SO2.
L'invention a pour objet un procédé amélioré de chloruration d'une substance contenant du titane dans un réacteur à lit fluidisé qui dégage une substance gazeuse renfermant CO, COS et TiCl¿4?, l'amélioration consistant à introduire un gaz contenant de l'oxygène à un endroit ou des endroits se trouvant en aval de la surface du lit, ce gaz étant mesuré dans son état statique, afin de convertir au moins une partie de CO en CO¿2? et une partie de COS en CO¿2? et So¿2?.
