A process for reducing NOX concentrations in waste gas streams. More particularly, the present invention relates to contacting a NOX-containing waste gas stream with an effective amount of sodium chlorite under conditions such that at least a fraction of the oxidizable NOX species present in the waste gas stream is oxidized to higher nitrogen oxides.
L'invention concerne un procédé destiné à réduire les concentrations en NO¿x? dans des courants de gaz résiduaires. Plus particulièrement, l'invention consiste à mettre en contact un courant de gaz résiduaires contenant du NO¿x? avec une quantité efficace de chlorite de sodium, dans des conditions telles qu'au moins une fraction des espèces NO¿x? oxydables présentes dans le courant gazeux résiduaire soit oxydée en oxydes d'azote supérieurs.
