ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the regeneration of an electrolyte by reducing stannic ions in the electrolyte into stannous ions. This reduction is carried out by adding metallic tin to the electro- lyte containing tin salts and which is controlled so as to be acidic, and heating the resulting electrolyte. This process can be effectively used in regeneration of the electrolyte containing tin salts which is employed in colouring aluminum and electro- plating.
