A process for removing halogenated organic compounds from waste gases, optionally containing NO x, in which the waste gas is optionally supplemented with SO2, optionally led through a fixed bed or fluidized bed of a solid, and contacted with Caro's acid or one of its salts. The Caro's acid can be produced in situ by adding H2O2 and optionally H2SO4.

Méthode pour éliminer des composés organiques halogénés dans des gaz résiduels, renfermant facultativement NOx; les gaz résiduels sont facultativement complétés avec SO2, facultativement acheminés à travers un lit fixe ou un lit fluidisé d'un matériau solide, et amené en contact avec l'acide de Caro ou l'un de ses sels. L'acide de Caro peut être produit sur place par addition de H2O2 et, facultativement, de H2SO4.
