A B S T R A C T A process for removing NOx from an oxygen-containing flue gas, which is substantially free from SO2, by reacting NOx with NH3, in the presence of a catalyst, NH3 being introduced for this purpose in the flue gas, in which process a catalyst is used comprising one or more metal sulphates, and wherein an amount of up to 700 ppm by volume of SO2 is added to the flue gas prior to contacting the same with the catalyst.
