A PROCESS FOR REMOVING SULPHATE FROM ELECTROLYSIS BRINE ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Sulfate impurities are removed from alkali metal chloride brine electrolysis cell effluent by diluting the effluent to an alkali metal chloride content of less than 150 grams per liter and then contacting the diluted effluent with a weakly basic anion exchange medium.
