ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Solvent is removed from a polymer solution in a single-system process in which the heated polymer solution at a pressure higher than the boiling pressure of the solvent is introduced into a hopper feeding a worm screw; the solution is then depressurized thereby removing a major portion of the solvent via a ventilation zone situated to the rear of the feed hopper; the solution is then reheated, repressurized, and forced forward; the remainder of the solvent is then removed in the ventilation zones forward of the feed hopper; and the solvent-free polymer is then immediately pelletized.
