A process for detackifying oil base paint and for coagulating and flocculating waterborne paint in water. In the processes a dimethylamine/ ethylenediamine/epichlorohydrin polymer, aluminum chlorohydrate and an alkaline material are added to water to detackify oil base paint and to coagulate and flocculate waterborne paint. The conditioned paint solids can then be removed from the water. The process is particularly useful for removing paint from paint spray booth water.
