Process for retreading a used tire (2), whereby the running tread of the tire (2) is ground off and/or roughened, whereby a layer (3) of a binder rubber is further applied onto the surface of the tire, a closed ring of a new running tread (1) is applied over the binder rubber (3), the air between the binder rubber (3) and the running tread (1) is removed, and the running tread (1) is attached to the tire (2) by vulcanizing the binder rubber (3) located between the running tread (1) and the tire (2). A plurality of mutually inter- connected channels (12) are thereby provided between the binder rubber (3) and the inside surface of the running tread (1), which channels (12) terminate at a distance from the lateral edges of the running tread (1) and which communicate with at least one opening (14) extending through the running tread (1), after the running tread (1) has been placed on the tire (2) the lateral edges (13) of the running tread (1) are air-tightly connected with the sidewalls of the tire (2) by vulcanizing the binder rubber located there, the air located between the remaining running tread (1) and the binder rubber (3) is aspirated off through the channels (12) and through the least one opening (14) provided in the running tread (1), and the remaining running tread (1) is subsequently attached at the tire (2) by vulcanizing the binder rubber (3) between the running tread (1) and the tire (2).
