A process for recovering 2,2-dimethylpropanoic acid in highly pure form from a mixture of 2,2-dimethylpropanoic acid and impurities which may be obtained in the production of a beta lactam antibiotic, by degrading impurities and separating off the volatile fragments.

Cette invention concerne un procédé permettant la récupération d'acide 2,2-diméthylpropionique sous une forme très pure à partir d'un mélange d'acide 2,2-diméthylpropionique et d'impuretés que l'on peut obtenir au cours de la production d'un antibiotique bêta-lactame, ledit procédé consistant à décomposer les impuretés et à séparer les fragments volatils.
