ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Process for sizing cellulose fibres or fibre containing materials such as paper, to improve the resistance thereof to water which comprises treating the cellulose fibres or fibre containing material with a compound or formula R1R2N - SO2 - C1 wherein R1 represents a hydrophobic group of 8 to 40 carbon atoms, and R2 is either the same as R1, or an alkyl group of 1 to 7 carbon atoms.
