ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A method of strengthening propellent charge powder bodies, which comprises applying to a propellent charge green grain powder obtained during the production thereof an ester or dinitrile of an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid. The method of the invention enables one to obtain propellent powder bodies whose internal ballistic properties undergo practically no change at temperatures above 0°C, in relation to the internal ballistic properties of untreated propellent powder bodies. Moreover, when firing at low temperatures, on the other hand, decided improvements over the ballistic properties of untreated propellent powder bodies are obtained. Neither premature increases in gas pressure nor an ominously broad pressure band occur. The improvements are particularly noticeable when the propellent powder bodies are subject to high impact force or to a rapid rate of pressure increase.
