ABSTRACT A process for surface-roughening a polyacetal resin article includes subjecting the same to plasma treatment using a treatment gas selected from oxygen or an oxygen-containing compound, or halogen or a halogen-containing compound. The plasma treatment is conducted within a plasma generating apparatus having a plasma treatment chamber into which the treatment gas may be introduced, and an electrode of selected surface area. The power output (Po, expressed in the units Watts) of the electrode and/or the pressure (Pr, expressed in the units Torr) within the treatment chamber, are controlled so that the ratio Po/Pr is at least 1200 when oxygen or an oxygen-containing compound is used, or is at least 100 when a halogen or a halogen-containing compound is used. Preferably, the electrode has a selected surface area (A, expressed in square centimeters) such that the ratio Po/A is at least about 0.2.
