Processes using heterogeneous adsorbents are disclosed for synthesis of sulfur- bridged molybdenum dimers with carbonyl containing cyclopentadienyl ligands and water soluble carboxylate salts thereof. Molybdenum sulfide dimers synthesized according to this invention are particularly useful agents for separation, recover, and/or purification of unsaturated hydrocarbons, in particular, relatively impure olefins produced by thermal cracking of suitable hydrocarbon feedstocks.

L'invention concerne des procédés utilisant des adsorbants hétérogènes destinés à la synthèse de dimères de molybdène pontés au soufre avec un composé carbonylé, renfermant des ligands cyclopentadiènes et des sels carboxylates de ceux-ci. Les dimères de molybdène synthétisés selon cette invention sont des agents particulièrement utiles à la séparation, la récupération, et/ou à la purification d'hydrocarbures insaturés, et en particulier d'oléfines impures produites par craquage thermique de charges d'alimentation d'hydrocarbures.
