Selon l'invention on traite d'abord le CO2 directement avec une enzyme, de préférence l'anhydrase carbonique pour produire des ions bicarbonate, et ensuite on fait réagir les ions bicarbonate avec le Ca(OH)2 pour produire le carbonate de calcium précipité. On obtient ainsi un meilleur rendement qu'en traitant directement le lait de chaux avec le gaz carbonique.
