Abstract Process for the Co-Production of Aromatic Carboxylates and Alkyl Iodides This invention relates to a novel carbonylation process for the preparation of both aromatic carboxylic acids or esters and an iodine containing compound from which the iodine values can be economically recovered. In this process, the carboxylation is conducted in the presence of an alkanol and a catalytic amount of ruthenium.
