ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the continuous performance of reactions in which a liquid medium is conveyed through a horizontal tube reactor, preferably as a plug flow, with gas and/or air being supplied from underneath, in which process a continuous curtain or wall of rising gas and/or air bubbles extending along the axis of the tube reactor is formed within the liquid medium; and further a tube reactor for carrying out the process, with gas and/or air supply orifices axially extending along the reactor at its bottom, the gas and/or air supply orifices overlapping and/or staggered in relation to one another in such a manner that the gas and/or air discharged by them forms a continuous wall or curtain of rising bubbles within the liquid medium flowing in the reactor.
