Process for the continuous preparation of an alkyl 5-formylvalerate by reacting an alkyl-3-pentenoate with carbon monoxide and hydrogen by hydroformylation using a catalyst system comprising rhodium or iridium and a multidentate organic phosphite ligand according to general formula (1) in which n is 2-6, X is an n-valent organic bridging group and in which the end groups R1-R2 are monovalent aryl groups, wherein the process is carried out in the presence of an acid compound having a pKa between 1 and 12 measured in water at 18 ~C.

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'élaboration en continu d'un composé alkyl 5-formylvalérate par mise en réaction d'un alkyl-3-pentenoate avec du monoxyde de carbone et de l'hydrogène par hydroformylation. On utilise pour cela un système catalyseur comprenant du rhodium ou de l'iridium et un ligand à base de phosphite organique multidenté représenté par la formule générale (I). Dans cette formule, "n" vaut 2 à 6. "X" est in groupe de pontage organique à valence "n". Les groupes terminaux R?1¿-R?2¿ sont des groupes aryl monovalents. L'hydroformylation se fait en présence d'un composé acide dont le pKa dans l'eau à 18 ·C se situe entre 1 et 12.
