PROCESS FOR THE CONTINUOUS PRODUCTION OF BLISTER COPPER ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION An energy efficient method for the continuous production of blister copper using a lime-ferrite slag which absorbs iron oxides produced by the oxidation of iron present in the matte to be treated. The lime-ferrite slag is slowly cooled and separated into a ferromagnetic phase containing much of the oxidized iron and a nonmagnetic lime-containing phase which may be recovered and reverted to process. The instant process is applicable to autogenous smelting and converting operations.
