ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE PROCESS FOR THE CONVERSION OF FORMALDEHYDE TO HYDROCARBONS A process for the conversion of an aqueous solution of formaldehyde to hydrocarbon products comprising passing the formaldehyde solution over a catalyst bed comprising a metal oxide catalyst component suitable for converting formaldehyde to methanol and/or dimethyl ether and an acid catalyst component suitable for converting the methanol and/or dimethyl ether to hydrocarbons, provided that if said formaldehyde solution comprises methanol, the formaldehyde to methanol molar ratio is greater than 1:1.
