K 5208 A B S T R A C T Life of a combination of two or more catalysts in a hydro- desulphurization process of a residual oil without catalyst re- plenishment and in the presence of steam, is longer than that of each of the catalysts is applied separately, provided that each of the catalysts has a porosity and particle size within specified ranges depending on the porosity and particle size of the other catalysts in the combination and on the applied hydrogen partial pressure and that the catalysts are applied in a given volume ratio.
