PRECIS DE LA DIVULGATION: L'invention se rapporte à la purification du di(hydroxy-4 phényl) 2,2 propane par cristallisation dans un solvant. Suivant l'invention on prépare un mélange liquide contenant du di(hydroxy-4 phényl) 2,2 propane à purifier, du phénol et 2 à 12% en poids d'eau à une température à laquelle ledit mélange est liquide, sensiblement dans sa totalité, et l'on refroidit ce mélange à une température comprise entre 25 et 60°C sous une pression réduite correspondant à la tension de vapeur du milieu qui est comprise entre 20 et 120 mm Hg, de telle sorte qu'il se produit une cristallisation d'un complexe de di(hydroxy-4 phényl) 2,2 propane pur et de phénol. Le di(hydroxy-4 phényl) 2,2 propane ainsi purifié peut servir à la fabrication de polycarbonates.
