- 13 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention relates to a process for dehydrogenating C2 - C10 alkyl hydrocarbons by contacting the hydrocarbons with a carbonaceous catalyst at dehydrogenation conditions, which include temperatures in the range of about 400°C to about 1200°C. A preferred carbonaceous catalyst is a petroleum coke.
