ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process is provided for the delignification of lignocellulosic material in raw or in pulp form, which comprises carrying out the de- lignification with oxygen and alkali in the presence of a manganese compound improving the selectivity of the delignification, and increasing the rate of delignification.
