PROCESS FOR THE DIRECT CONNECTION OF TERMINALS CONNECTED TO DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS EXCHANGES ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE For avoiding use of both an outgoing and an incoming connection channel, a direct connection is made between terminals connected to digital communications exchanges having terminals operated jointly on a bus line emerging from a standardized interface of an integrated service digital communications exchange. The bus and the exchange use digital useful data (B1 and B2) and signalling (D) channels. A channel control (KST) is connected between the interface (So) of the communications exchange (KVA) and the bus line (So-Bus) emerging from it. The channel control (KST) includes a programmed controller (PST) which, upon initiation of a connection originating from one of the terminals coupled to the interface (e.g., TE1), determines from the information sent on the signalling channel (D) whether or not the connection is to lead to a terminal (e.g., TEn) connected to the same bus line (So-Bus). When the connection is to another terminal on the same bus line, a switching device (e.g., UB1) is activated which switches the transmitting line (S) locally to the receiving line (E). In this manner only one useful data channel (e.g., B1) is busy during communication between terminals locally connected to the bus line, which channel can be used for a one-way or two-way internal connection.
