ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for the direct electrochemical recovery of copper values from a dilute ammoniacal leach solution, in which the solution is introduced into an electrolytic cell having a porous cathode and an anode, a current is applied across the cell such that the current density is from 1 to 100 amperes per square foot of cathode cross-section, the solution is flowed through the cathode and by the anode to produce reaction of the copper which is deposited in and on the cathode, leaving a barren solution, and the deposited copper is recovered from the cathode, the barren solution being subsequently recycled to a leach system for recovering additional copper.
