ABSTRACT Process for the level dyeing of wound bodies of cellulose fibers or mixtures thereof with considerably shorter dyeing times according to the rapid exhaust dyeing method, wherein the wound- up fibrous material is introduced into a pressure-tight dyeing vessel, this vessel is heated with the goods to temperatures in the rang of from 100° to 120°C by replacing the air by saturated steam or superheated steam, the dyebath is prepared in a likewise pressure-tight, but separate vessel which is connected with the first-mentioned vessel by pipes and also heated to temperatures in the range of from 30 to 135°C, depending on the dyestuff class, while maintaining control of the temperature within the mentioned limit values and of the steam pressure in both closed systems and by appli- cation of an external pressure that a relative excess pressure of 3 to 10 atmospheres gauge ( = 2.94 to 9.81 bars) is developed in the batch vessel, the dyeing liquor is pressed by the differential pressure within 3 to 60 seconds simultaneously from the inside and from the outside into the dry or wet wound bodies, and the dyeing is further treated in the usual manner.
