A process for the hydrocarboxylation of an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, by reacting it with carbon monoxide and a co-reactant selected from the group of water and carboxylic acids in the presence of a catalyst system including: (a) a source of palladium; (b) a bidentate diphosphine of formula (I), R1R2 > P - R3 - R - R4 - P < R5R6 (I) wherein P represents a phosphorus atom; R1, R2, R5 and R6 independently represent the same or different optionally substituted organic groups containing a tertiary carbon atom through which the group is linked to the phosphorus atom; R3 and R4 independently represent optionally substituted alkylene groups and R represents an optionally substituted aromatic group; (c) a source of anions derived from an acid having a pKa of less than 3, as measured at 18 ~C in an aqueous solution.
L'invention concerne un processus destiné à l'hydrocarboxylation d'un acide carboxylique éthyléniquement insaturé, par sa réaction avec un monoxyde de carbone, et un coréactif sélectionné dans le groupe d'eau et d'acides carboxyliques en présence d'un système de catalyseur qui comprend: (a) une source de palladium; (b) une diphosphine de bidentate ayant la formule (I), R?1¿R?2¿ > P - R?3¿ - R - R?4¿ - P < R?5¿R?6¿ (I) dans laquelle P représente un atome de phosphore; R?1¿, R?2¿, R?5¿ et R?6¿ représentent indépendamment des groupes organiques identiques ou différents éventuellement substitués, qui contiennent un atome de carbone tertiaire par lequel le groupe est lié à l'atome de phosphore; R?3¿ et R?4¿ représentent indépendamment des groupes d'alkylène éventuellement substitués et R représente un groupe aromatique éventuellement substitué; (c) une source d'anions dérivés d'un acide possédant un pKa inférieur à 3, mesuré à 18 ·C dans une solution aqueuse.
