ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: The disclosure relates to the selective hydrogenation of diolefin hydrocarbons to form olefin hydrocarbons, said hydrogenation being carried out in the presence of a palladium base catalyst. Selectivity is as close as possible to 100% if an aqueous zinc solution is added to the diolefin hydrocarbon which is to be hydrogenated.
