The invention relates to a process for the hydrogenation of reaction mixtures from the hydroformylation of olefins having from 4 to 16 carbon atoms in the homogeneous liquid phase over fixed-bed catalysts comprising at least one element of transition group eight of the Periodic Table of the Elements, wherein the homogeneous liquid phase of the output from the reactor still contains from 0.05 to 10% by weight of water.
