The invention concerns a method for inspecting the surface of a cylindrical body, and more particularly a roll cylinder, which consists in observing at least a surface zone using an inspection device having an optical axis oriented towards said surface zone so as to determine the state of the surface. Therefor, it consists in capturing at least an image of the zone supplied by the inspection device, analysing at least one of the captured images, comparing the captured image, respectively one of the captured images, with the analysis of a reference image, detecting variations between the analysis of the captured image, respectively of the captured images, and the analysis of the reference image, and adjusting at least the orientation of the optical axis so as to reduce, and preferably eliminate, the observed variations. The device may comprise means for mechanical and/or optical adjustment of the orientation of the optical axis.
Dans un procédé pour l'inspection de la surface d'un corps cylindrique, et plus spécialement d'un cylindre de laminoir, on observe au moins une zone de la surface au moyen d'un dispositif d'inspection présentant un axe optique orienté vers cette zone de la surface en vue de déterminer l'état de la surface. A cet effet, on capte au moins une image de la zone fournie par le dispostif d'inspection, on analyse au moins une des images captées, on compare l'analyse de la image captée, respectivement des images captées, avec l'analyse d'une image de référence, on détecte les écarts existant entre l'analyse de l'image captée, respectivement des images captées, et l'analyse de l'image de référence, et on ajuste au moins l'orientation de l'axe optique de façon au moins à réduire, et de préférence à supprimer, les écarts constatés. Le dispositif peut comporter des moyens de réglage mécaniques et/ou optiques de l'orientation de l'axe optique.
