"PROCESS FOR THE LAUNCHING FROM THE MAINLAND OF LARGE- SIZE SUBMARINE PIPELINES, IN PARTICULAR FOR INTAKE INSTALLATIONS" Abstract Process for the launching from the mainland of large-size submarine pipelines, in particular for intake installations, consisting in subdividing the inner volume of the pipeline in a plurality of cylindrical volumes by means of a plurality of removable separation septa; connecting such cylindrical volumes with removable connections, to feed ballast water and compressed air from the outside of the pipeline, flooding the cylindrical volumes up to confer the desired negative buoyancy (water weight) to the pipeline; launching the pipeline by draught from the sea end; removing the removable service connections and separation septa, after the end of the launch operation.
