A B S T R A C T A process for the production of a filament reinforced extruded rubber body using a shear head, includes the steps of continuously feeding the filaments through a shear mandrel into a continuously advancing rubber composition for embedding the filaments into the rubber composition and vulcanizing the rubber mixture to fix the filaments within the rubber body. The filaments continuously exit from mouths on the front end of the shear mandrel which continuously rotates within the shear head and are embedded into that volume of the rubber mixture which is in the shear head. The speed of advance of the rubber composition is matched to the rotation speed of the shear mandrel in such a way that the rubber composition substantially reaches its lowest viscosity in the zone where the embedding takes place. Such a rubber body has high mechanical strength and excellent constancy of size and shape.
