A beneficial method for the manufacture of amino polyalkylene phosphonic acids, under substantial absence of hydrohalogenic acid, is disclosed. The method, in essence, is based on reacting narrowly defined ratios of phosphorous acid, an amine and a formaldehyde in presence of a heterogeneous Broensted acid catalyst. The inventive method is capable of yielding economically and quality operational/capacity advantages, in particular significantly reduced one-step cycle duration under exclusion of corrosion disadvantages and also is environmentally friendly without requiring, in that respect, anything more than nominal capital expenditures.

La présente invention se rapporte à un procédé avantageux permettant de produire des acides aminopolyalkylènephosphoniques, en l'absence pour ainsi dire totale d'acide hydrohalogénique. Le procédé consiste essentiellement à faire réagir des proportions précisément définies d'un acide phosphoreux, d'une amine et d'un formaldéhyde, en présence d'un catalyseur acide de Broensted. Le procédé selon l'invention présente des avantages importants sur le plan économique, et sur le plan qualitatif, fonctionnel et de la capacité de production ; il permet en particulier de réduire sensiblement la durée du cycle à une étape en excluant les inconvénients liés à la corrosion, et est sans danger pour l'environnement car il ne nécessite rien d'autre que les dépenses de capital nominal.
