ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to a process for preparing p-tert.butylben- zaldehyde by oxidation of p-tert.butyltoluene. The oxidation is carried out by means of a Mn3+ salt, which salt is generated by electrochemical oxidation of a Mn2+ salt. The chemical oxidation and the electrochemical oxidation are carried out in separate reaction vessels.
