A process for the manufacture of a blocked mercaptosilane comprising: reacting at least one polysulfane-containing organosilicon compound of the general formula: (R13SiG)2Sn (a) in which each R1 is independently methoxy, ethoxy or alkyl of from 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, provided, that at least one R1 group is methoxy or ethoxy, G is an alkylene group of from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms and n is from 2 to about 8, with at least one alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or a basic derivative of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal to provide the corresponding metal salt of the polysulfane-containing organosilicon compound and; (b) reacting the metal salt of the polysulfane- containing organosilicon compound with an acyl halide or carbonyl dihalide to provide a blocked mercaptosilane.

Procédé de production d'un mercaptosilane bloqué qui consiste (a) à faire réagir au moins un composé organosilicium contenant du polysulfane, de formule générale (R?1¿¿3?SiG)¿2?S¿n? dans laquelle chaque R?1¿ représente indépendamment méthoxy, éthoxy ou alkyle ayant de 1 à environ 6 atomes de carbone, à condition qu'au moins un groupe R?1¿ représente méthoxy ou éthoxy, G représente un groupe alkylène ayant de 1 à environ 12 atomes de carbone et n vaut de 2 à environ 8, au moins un métal alcalin, un métal alcalino-terreux ou un dérivé basique d'un métal alcalin ou d'un métal alcalino-terreux devant fournir le sel métallique correspondant du composé organosilicium contenant du polysulfane et (b) à faire réagir le sel métallique du composé organosilicium contenant du polysulfane avec un halogénure d'acyle ou dihalogénure de carbonyle pour obtenir un mercaptosilane bloqué.? ¿
